Add to My Events   Attend this Event   Bookmark & ShareBookmark & Share   Add to Calendar

Normal examples and common diseases of the knee will be presented along with techniques the examiner will find useful in defining normal from abnormal knee anatomy. Pathology such as tendon tear, haematoma, synovial diseases, patellar disease and abnormalities of the cartilage will be discussed. A structured approach for examining the knee with ultrasound will be addressed. Participants interested in learning to use ultrasound to evaluate the knee will take home a wealth of knowledge useful for every day clinical applications. Supervised scanning sessions will allow participants to re-enforce the anatomy, physiology and pathology of the knee with assistance and guidance. A brief overview of ultrasound guided injections will be presented.

Course Topics:

  • Ultrasound equipment instrumentation, tranducers and knobology
  • General technical points, patient preparation and positioning
  • The normal appearance of tendons, ligaments, cartilage and bone
  • Examples of common injuries and disease
  • Focused mechanisms of examination for specific structures or disease
  • A protocol designed to grant thoroughness and consistency to the ultrasound examination
  • Hands-on practice with live models
